All alumni, parents, and friends are invited to join the UVA Club of Boston for an evening of tasting Spanish wine & cheese paired with art! In the virtual world we are all living in now, please join us on Zoom to experience the Spanish Cloister at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston while tasting Spanish wine & cheese. Former UVA Alum and Raleigh based Arts Writer Charlotte Russell will discuss one of John Singer Sargent’s most iconic paintings, the El Jaleo, as well as the surrounding objects in the Spanish Cloister. Charlottesville based Wine Expert Stephen Kelly will provide tasting notes for Fino Sherry & Manchego Cheese and how they relate to the Spanish Cloister. 

Arts Writer Charlotte Russell was an art history major at the University of Virginia before starting her career in the fine art world in her hometown of San Francisco. Having art collectors as parents, Charlotte’s love of art starting at a young age. She has worked in fine art galleries, auction houses, museums, arts nonprofits, and is currently focusing on freelance art writing. Stephen Kelly is currently the Vice President of Food and Beverage for Champion Hospitality Group in Charlottesville. He was born and raised in New York and "married into" UVA. His wife, Maria Reuge, is a UVA graduate from '08. Stephen spent the 10 years leading up to COVID-19 at a restaurant called Eleven Madison Park in Manhattan.The restaurants he oversees in Charlottesville are: Brasserie Saison, Passiflora (a new restaurant recently opened), Champion Tap Room, Champion Grill, Fry's Spring Beach Club and the upcoming Champion Ice House in Gordonsville.
